A logistics building of distinction - Alf Bjerckes vei 22 wins the Green Roof Award 2023
Alf Bjerckes vei 22 in Alna, Oslo, has won the Green Roof Award 2023! The roof, covering approximately 16,000 square meters, is adorned with carefully selected local plants, solar panels, and beehives, creating a green oasis in the surroundings. The award is presented annually by the Scandinavian Green Roof Institute.
In 2018, Aspelin Ramm decided to construct a distinguished logistics building in Alna, Oslo, with high ambitions for efficient logistics technology and strict climate requirements. The building, now complete, is environmentally certified to BREEAM Excellent, a rating that signifies exceptional sustainability performance in areas such as energy efficiency, water usage, and building materials. Constructed on a fossil-free site, the project also features smart reuse of steel, concrete, tiles, and installations.
Norway’s greenest logistics building is the result of a large team’s efforts.
“We have collaborated with the developer Aspelin Ramm on several projects before. They challenged us to design a logistics building as beautiful as a concert hall,” says senior architect Cornelia Fischer at Nordic Office of Architecture to Norsk Byggebransje.
The project had high sustainability ambitions from the start, with the developer setting early goals for BREEAM-NOR Excellent certification. All involved parties have worked closely to create Norway’s greenest logistics building.
“It was important for us to lighten the building’s visual expression by dividing the large volume into two elements – a grounded base with a light and airy box above, featuring different surfaces that reflect light and bring the building to life."
