Enhancing efficiency and safety at Oslo Airport Gardermoen

With the upgraded baggage handling system (BHS) at Oslo Airport, baggage handling for staff is made safer, while significantly reducing the risk of delays and lost baggage. For passengers, the new and improved self-service bag drops in the check-in hall will improve flow and increase efficiency.

This comprehensive project spans the entire airport, from the check-in hall, through the scanning and sorting rooms in the basement, to the pier make-up zone. While the spacious check-in hall itself remains unchanged, its layout has been significantly altered to increase the number of self-service bag drops and improve overall efficiency. Additionally, a new check-in island with bespoke designed check-in desks will be added.

We are very proud to continue shaping air travel and mobility to OSL passengers, and the award-winning airport continues to break ground.

In line with the overall design concept and material palette for the terminal, the check-in counters are crafted from timber, and the self-service bag drops are made from glass and aluminum. This timeless and robust design creates a friendly environment for travelers passing through.

The original design of Terminal 1, with its ample dimensions, allows for significant changes to the BHS and highlights the excellence of the airport’s initial layout. It demonstrates a thoughtful approach to flexibility and generous proportions, enabling the terminal to adapt to substantial modifications related to the new BHS - without impacting operations.
