MIPIM Appoints Danish Urban Development Expert Camilla van Deurs as new Jury Member for 2025 Awards

MIPIM, the global urban festival, is pleased to announce the appointment of Camilla van Deurs to its jury for the 2025 MIPIM Awards. Camilla Richter-Friis van Deurs joins to guide the selection of this year’s most innovative, sustainable, and transformative real estate projects.

Camilla van Deurs, who heads Nordic Office of Architecture’s specialist department for strategic urban development, brings a wealth of experience in architecture and urban planning to the panel. Camilla has a distinguished career as former City Architect of Copenhagen (2019–2024) and partner at Gehl Architects. Her deep commitment to sustainability, her understanding of the needs of urban communities, and her academic contributions as a lecturer at the University of Copenhagen and DIS make her a highly valuable addition to the MIPIM Awards jury.

“Camilla brings expertise and perspectives that reflect the industry’s evolving priorities in sustainability and user centred design. Her insights will help ensure that the 2025 MIPIM Awards recognize projects that not only enhance real estate but also positively impact the communities they serve,” said Nicolas Kozubek, Director of MIPIM.

The MIPIM Awards, established in 1991, honour the real estate industry’s most impactful, sustainable, and visionary projects. With the addition of two new award categories 2025, the competition seeks to capture emerging trends and address new market needs. Each entry is assessed based on criteria such as sustainability, integration with the environment, economic contribution, user experience, and originality.

Reflecting on her new role, Camilla van Deurs remarked, “It’s an honour to join the MIPIM Awards jury. I look forward to evaluating projects that push the boundaries of sustainable development and transform urban spaces into environments that support both community and environmental well-being.”

The MIPIM Awards 2025 will continue to uphold its high standards, focusing on projects that contribute holistically to sustainability goals, from reducing construction and operational carbon to prioritizing life cycle and climate concerns. Projects selected as winners will embody excellence in design, economic impact, and a commitment to enhancing the built environment for current and future generations.
