Nordic wins competition for new Practice Academy at Campus Nørrebro

Our proposal has been selected as the winner of the competition for a new Practice Academy.

We are proud to share that Nordic Office of Architecture, in collaboration with Cubo as lead consultant, has won the architectural competition for a new Practice Academy at Campus Nørrebro in Copenhagen. The winning team includes Cubo, Nordic Office of Architecture, Dominia, and DETBLÅ.

“In the jury’s assessment, particular emphasis was placed on the proposal’s well-considered, robust and functional qualities – supporting both theoretical immersion, experimentation, hands-on workshop activity, and, importantly, the framework for student community,” says Ole Heinager, CEO of NEXT.

The building will be constructed at the heart of the campus, which will also be opened up more towards the city. The new Practice Academy will serve as a central gathering point for students across NEXT’s vocational education programmes, EUX, and 10th grade. The A.P. Møller Foundation has donated DKK 125 million to the project, which has a total budget of DKK 250 million.

“At Nordic Office of Architecture, we are excited to be part of this collaboration and to help develop a contemporary learning and youth environment. We’ve designed a building rooted in the modularity of the existing architecture, with flexibility at its core – a place where life, community, professionalism, and learning are given their own space and meaning,” says Sofie Peschardt, Creative Director at Nordic Office of Architecture.

The building is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2029.
