Women building for women

Countess Danner has indeed left a remarkable mark on her time as well as the present – and is especially known for being the protector of vulnerable women.

Today, the Nordic Office of Architecture Denmark was represented as Countess Danner was honored with a new monument at Vester Søgade and Gyldenløvesgade in Copenhagen. The monument is cast in bronze and illustrates the countess's life and deeds – and the subsequent women's political history, which is continuously evolving and which we continue to build upon.

The monument was created by sculptor Kirsten Justesen, who is a prominent figure in feminist art both domestically and internationally. Our Head of Urban Development, Camilla Richter-Friis van Deurs, has been part of the committee for the monument and, together with other contributors, has left her mark on the monument.

The monument was made with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation, the Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation, the Augustinus Foundation, and the Sculptor, Professor Gottfred Eickhoff and his wife, the painter Gerda Eickhoff's Foundation.
