Scope
Infrastructure
Nydalen Metro Station consists of an entrance pavilion on street level and a 110-metre long platform underground. The pavilion’s architecture consists of horizontal and vertical planes, which are dynamically offset in relation to each other. The walls are clad in black basalt which both contrast and complement the red glass box that houses the escalators. This glass box serves as a marker for the station.
An art installation of over 1800 neon lights and 44 loudspeakers surrounds the escalators. Dubbed the ”Tunnel of Light” it is a work of art where light, music, technology and architecture come together as an integral and unified whole, interacting dynamically with the public on their journey from or to the subway platform.
