The dawn of a new brand

"Canopy by Hilton" in Reykjavik was a pilot project for the new brand by the global hotel chain. It might have been the first but it was certainly not the last. Canopy by Hilton hotels are now located in multiple cities all over the world.

Framing a thriving urban scene

The aim of the design was to create a casual yet exclusive lifestyle hotel with a pleasant atmosphere that is deeply rooted in downtown Reykjavik. The new built hotel became part of a row of renovated older buildings that together frame a new city plaza.

Pop by or pass through

The project integrates seamlessly into the city fabric and creates connections through the building between two of Reykjavik's main streets. The aim was that the building would be inviting, not only to the hotel guests, but for people passing by to drop in for a drink, or simply use the building as a shortcut between city spaces.
