Public housing with community and sustainability
The Hill Houses in the new district of Lisbjerg offer a sense of community, whilst providing individual preferences and a family-sized housing plan. The buildings are designed with community and privacy in mind. All homes are programmed with access, courtyard and living space facing the car-free streets to the south.
The community is arranged with several small blocks with a series of housing types with 6-8 homes. This gives it a more manageable size, which also makes it easier to protect the local environment.
Friendly and pleasant coexistence is the vision for this project – neighbours in each block get a sense of shared ownership, sunny places to meet with natural shelter from westerly winds and magnificent views to Egådalen and Aarhus.
Sustainable strategy
The project's sustainability strategy is based on DGNB criteria, including a strong focus on social sustainability and circular economy. Sustainable materials were also of high priority with – there is a heavy focus on timbre and the facades are Nordic Swan Ecolabeled.
