Scope
Residential design
The new DGNB gold and diamond certified residential community includes social housing and access to the scenic Skæring Bæk in Aarhus.
Natural qualities in everyday life
The site's enormous natural environment around Skæring Bæk allows residents to live in harmony with nature. The building adapts to nature as an organic composition of terraced houses with a scale and rhythm that blend with the landscape and responds to the client's vision of durable and sustainable living.
The community consists of 175 homes, organised by clusters in a north-south direction, creating coherent and experience-rich neighbourhoods. The basic concept for the overall design was a solid and repetitive structure, contrasted by nature and nuances between the homes. Each neighbourhood enjoys the combination of urban liveliness on the street side and the soft and natural wilderness on the garden side.
