Olympic view
Kvitfjell BaseCamp lies at an altitude of around 800 metres above sea level, halfway up the Olympic slopes at Kvitfjell. Designed to accentuate the steep terrain in which it is situated, its cladding of roughly milled board cut-offs plays into the Norwegian landscape in a way that emulates it without losing its architectural edge.
A total of seven ‘BaseCamp Houses’ are planned for the site, of which three have been built. Each building houses nine apartments of approximately 65 m² each over three storeys.

Sustainable solution
Originally, private cabins were planned for the area where BaseCamp is located. By proposing building volumes with multiple, smaller apartments, Nordic has reduced the infrastructure scope, energy consumption, land use and greenhouse gas emissions per unit and per user radically.
