Terminal teamwork
Nordic is designing the terminal building, control tower, and the administration and services building for a brand new airport in Mo i Rana, Norway. With the construction of the airport, located on the north-west coast of Norway, Avinor aims to improve business development and tourism in the surrounding area.
Northern exposure
The opportunity to design a brand new airport from scratch gives us a unique opportunity to create a distinct identity for the entire airport. This is an advantage not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also from a maintenance perspective, since it allows for a more holistic approach concerning expansion and add-ons.
The architectural expression is inspired by the beautiful natural environment surrounding the buildings, creating a facade resembling mountain and ice landscapes. It's also a modern, functional and cost effective airport, designed in such a way that passengers on both landing and take-off can enjoy a majestic panoramic view of the outdoor surroundings, enhancing the total passenger experience.
