Tingbjerg in Transformation
Tingbjerg is a unique district in Copenhagen where village charm meets the pulse of the city. The area is beautifully located near Utterslev Mose and only 8 km from City Hall Square. Here you will find a mix of three-story apartment buildings and single-story row houses. Apartments feature balconies, French balconies, or private gardens, while the row houses are typically reserved for people with physical disabilities. Tingbjerg is a diverse neighborhood with space for all generations – from senior communities and nursing homes to new family homes designed for families with children of all ages.
The district was originally designed in the 1950s by architect Steen Eiler Rasmussen and landscape architect C.Th. Sørensen as a park-like development with green corridors and generous communal spaces. Today, Tingbjerg comprises approximately 2,500 homes spread across an area of 220,000 m². The area is characterized by large green spaces that connect the buildings and an architecture defined by distinctive materials and brick gardens, giving the neighborhood its unique identity.
The Master Plan – A Step Toward the Future
To ensure Tingbjerg remains an attractive place to live, a comprehensive physical master plan is being implemented. The goal is to consolidate all renovation needs while enhancing the neighborhood socially and structurally, strengthening its competitiveness and securing its future. The master plan will not only address urgent issues such as mold and lack of ventilation but also create modern and appealing homes that meet current and future standards.
The renovation includes upgrading building components and installations, improving indoor climate, and optimizing energy efficiency. At the same time, the area will receive a qualitative and innovative boost that goes beyond standard renovation. This means adopting a holistic approach – considering both the homes and the surrounding green spaces to preserve and reinforce Tingbjerg’s distinctive landscape structure.
Residents at the Heart
An essential part of the process is involving the residents. They know the area, its culture, and everyday life best, and their wishes and needs are crucial for the success of the master plan. Therefore, residents are invited to participate in dialogue and decision-making during the initial phase so that together we can create a neighborhood that works for everyone.
With the master plan for Tingbjerg II, we are investing in the future – in homes, community, and green surroundings. The goal is clear: to make Tingbjerg an even more attractive, safe, and sustainable place to live for current and future generations.
