Scope
Hospital and health care planning and design
Oslo's local hospital
Aker hospital will become a landmark in Oslo with a building complex providing excellent views of the city from the patient rooms. Altogether the hospital will house about 750 patient beds, in psychiatric and somatic departments.
Green and well integrated
Green areas around the hospital is a priority, both for the users of the hospital and for the benefit of people in the local area.
A campus area with existing, vernacular buildings, and Oslo Emergency Ward will also be well integrated with the hospital.
Oslo Emergency ClinicEfficient operation and flexible solutions
The compact layouts give short distances between functions, facilitating more efficient hospital operation.
Flexible solutions future proofs the hospital, making it possible to build in phases, as well as catering for future expansions.
Seemless integration between new and existing
Facilities for mental health services and interdisciplinary specialised treatment for substance addiction is located in the lower buildings.
Integrating existing buildings with the new is an important part of the project. Some listed buildings on the plot will become part of the psychiatry unit, as well as teaching facilities and offices.
