Renew and preserve

The new somatic building at Førde Hospital is carefully integrated with the existing buildings, including our previously completed psychiatric unit, the Daga building. It houses various medical departments, including surgery, radiology, maternity, and neonatal care.

Special care was taken to complement the facade, interiors and original colour scheme of the adjacent class 1 listed Svana building, which has been renovated to include services like physiotherapy, eye care, and pharmacy.

Care for the whole family

All rooms in the new hospital ward feature pull-down beds for family and caregivers, and the new family rooms have facilities for more family members to stay over at night.

Architectural Design

The new building's facade features corrugated fibre cement panels in a brown tone that harmonizes with the surroundings and the existing building. Large windows in patient rooms offer ample natural light and views.

Colourful environment

The interior design maintains the existing colour scheme from the protected Svana building but with a modern twist.

Service areas feature saturated colours for a distinct identity, while patient areas have lighter colours to create a calm atmosphere.

Coloured doors help patients navigate the building and create a cohesive and inspiring environment.
