A new era

Laksevåg has been pivotal for the Norwegian shipping industry, facilitating international trade along the Norwegian west coast for centuries. While the shipbuilders have moved on, the character of the shipyard and the feeling of being next to the water remains, making Laksevåg potentially a great place to both live and work.

Nordic won the competition to transform Laksevåg with a submission that will offer Bergen a whole new and exciting district.

Live by the water

The vision is for three new islands in addition to the existing shipyard, with homes, offices, restaurants and shops. New public spaces and diverse housing typologies will ensure that Laksevåg is a place for all, with the connection to the water a priority at all times through new canals, boardwalks and a public beach. Key shipyard buildings and the dry dock will be preserved, becoming the focal points for cultural and community activities in the area.

The project includes 1.500 residential units plus 40.000 m² offices and retail.
