Comfortable refuge
Situated at 1.100 metres above sea level, the Moldegård cabin was a tough nut to crack. It has to withstand some of the harshest weather conditions in the world, with winds reaching hurricane force and snow depths of up to five metres, while providing a cozy and comfortable refuge from the raging elements for the family.
L-shaped shield
The solution was to create an L-shaped construction that would shield the entrance and patio from the weather, and that descends into the terrain, making for an unobtrusive and elegant facade. The exterior is dressed in untreated pine heartwood that has a high level of natural oils while the interior features a combination of timber and local stone.
