Connecting continents
The main airport in Iceland, Keflavik, serves as a hub for air traffic between Europe and North America. When Isavia looked at the future masterplanning of the airport, expanding the airport’s capacity from 4.5 million passengers per year to 13.8 million, they involved Nordic.
Elegant expansion
Nordic’s proposal is simple, elegant and flexible. Airside, landside and passenger terminal all have to remain operational during the expansion. The masterplan also includes a proposal for a potential third runway.
Icelandic infrastructure
Larger passenger capacity in an airport like Keflavik has an impact on the surrounding community. Nordic’s masterplan includes road infrastructure, a rail link to Reykjavik, and an airport city for commercial activities, with a great potential for creating new jobs.
